Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC announces its first Youth Grassroots Music Showcase event on 15th August
This exciting pilot event is designed specifically for young people aged 14-18, providing a fun and inspiring live music experience during the summer holidays while introducing the next generation to the local live music scene.
The evening will run from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and includes performances from two local new bands after an open mic session for all, from those who are getting started to confident performers (music/spoken word/comedy) in the professionally set up Fiery Bird Live Music Venue.
Please note that this is an alcohol-free event.
One of our feature acts will be OMA, a new grunge adjacent Indy band. Experienced gigging musicians in demand for their interpretations of favourite songs and using the experience to get tight as a band they are now channelling that energy and skill into their own work. After a year of writing and recording they are back playing and with the fresh EP “The Spiral” coming soon, are ready to get out there and show what they believe.
Also featuring FIN an up and coming young singer song writer from the UK!
Our vision is for this showcase to become a regular feature during school and college holidays, and beyond, creating opportunities not only for young music fans but also for aspiring creatives interested in areas such as sound, lighting, photography, videography, graphic design and event production as well as performing and writing.
We’re looking forward to what we believe will become a fantastic platform for young people and emerging artists in Woking
