Phoenix Cultural Centre Rises Again

In the true tradition of its namesake mythical bird, Phoenix Cultural Centre in Woking has had a last-minute reprieve as building owners EcoWorld stepped in to support them until the end of their lease in July 2026.

The community founded non profit was awarded ‘Leading Advocate of Community Led Regeneration’ & ‘Best Culture & Arts Workshop & Exhibition Space’ 2025 for South East England.

I had to send this to our groups, charities who use our space last week. Now we have told them we can share to our wider community. We’ve also reassured bookings in place they will be honoured. In fact, add more! Fill the place as much as possible. Do what we can, with what we have, for as long as we can.

Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC is proudly featured in an important exhibition launched at the Houses of Parliament on 1 September - the Museum of Broken Dreams.

Amidst our break in, last week we also got to celebrate our nomination for the King's Award for Voluntary Service. We were nominated by @SurreyMinorityEthnicForum a great charity who do incredible work for inclusion and opportunity for its 40+ member groups in Surrey.

Geoffrey has brought along a series of his vibrant works launched on Thursday 24 April running until 10 June. He has pledged 25% of sales to the Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC.

We’re thrilled to share that our Co-Founder, Elaine, has been awarded Arts & Community CEO of the Year (Surrey) in the UK CEO of the Year Awards 2024 by SME News!

We were recently successful in a grant of £2500 from ASDA Foundation to help buy some tools for our garden areas and paint a mural at 32 Goldsworth Rd!

Fiery Bird Venue was honoured with a nomination for the Attitude is Everything Impact Award. Being recognised alongside renowned venues across the UK is a significant milestone for our organisation.

Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC is proud to be named winner of  “Community Arts Venue of the Year 2024 – Surrey” in this year’s SME News Southern Enterprise Awards.

Music Venue Trust (MVT) issued Fiery Bird an award for outstanding contribution to grassroots music. The MVT works to protect, secure and improve UK grassroots music venues for communities and emerging artists.
