CoSTAR is a UKRI funded infrastructure project to help develop and grow the UK's Creative Economy. ‘We know technology innovation is not going to be a silver bullet for the very real problems the grass roots music sector faces, but it should be viewed as one practical instrument within a broader policy mix. Our role at CoSTAR is to look to the future and to imagine the art of the possible. We hope that with your support, hard work, and talent this is what has been achieved. Whilst this marks the completion of this research project please be assured that our journey in support of a more equitable future for the UK's grass roots sector will continue’ Prof Will Saunders Professor Will Saunders MBE | Creative Head | CoSTAR National Lab

“Phoenix Cultural Centre set up to secure a place in Woking for cultural activities, wellbeing and training. A community led organisation that operates Fiery Bird grassroots live music venue within its wider community benefit activities, to put Woking back on the touring map and give opportunities to new artists, producers, writers, photographers, and many others. We develop accessible pathways into creative industries that are so often inequitable to access, support community strength and local economies and other sectors. We take part in technological, social and creative research to this end with universities, social policy and sector organisations in the UK and abroad and contribute to policy to help achieve this aim for our community and beyond to be able to benefit. Being part of CoStar was important to us to be able to share the experiences we have of the barriers to making this a reality.’
