Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC commits to Woking’s cultural future with extended lease

Phoenix Cultural Centre CIC has secured Arts Council England Supporting Grassroots Music

funding for a new programme celebrating diverse music traditions, collaboration, and

accessibility improvements including a stage lift and accessible toilets.

During a recent work experience placement, local resident and aspiring musician Famke spent time behind the scenes at The Fiery Bird and Phoenix Cultural Centre. Experiencing the venue from this perspective offered insight into both the challenges and the potential of grassroots cultural spaces in Woking. The reflection shares her personal observations on community, creativity, and why spaces like ours deserve greater awareness and support.

Newly re-opened Phoenix Cultural Centre, on Goldsworth Road in Woking, has been honoured for its work as a Community Arts Venue.

As we reopen we will need to increase our current ‘small but mighty’ volunteer team.

ECOWorld London offered us this great building and made it safe for the community, our volunteers turned it from an office into a vibrant community space & live music venue.

Green light for Phoenix Cultural Centre’s new temporary venue at 32 Goldsworth Road.

Our monthly Sunday afternoon Fiery Bird Showcase continues at The Junction Coffee Shop, Woking.

We’ve been getting lots of questions about the opening date of the permanent Phoenix Cultural Centre/Fiery Bird Live Music Venue.

Every Monday night from 7.30 to 10pm come down to the Junction Coffee Shop.

There is so much in the pipeline, BUT we still are waiting on the YourFund decision on our community venue refit from Surrey County Council.

We are very excited to hear that we have been awarded Government funding thanks to the DCMS (Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee) Culture Recovery Fund.

The vision remains, but the dates have moved.

"So, we are moving forward with this, no large building yet, but lots of support and it's all starting to come together. We've been asked to write a blog about how it's come about to this but like most things time is an issue.
