Nominated for the Kings Award for Volunteering
Amidst our break in, last week we also got to celebrate our nomination for the King's Award for Voluntary Service. We were nominated by @SurreyMinorityEthnicForum a great charity who do incredible work for inclusion and opportunity for its 40+ member groups in Surrey. It meant even more for the nomination to come from them as they know our work so well, since they started. Also, to have their nomination supported by charities we host, who are close to our heart, Surrey Choices & @LinkAble. We were invited by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey to the gorgeous Tithe Barn for the reception and some of our team went to speak about our organisational work over the years, the groups who use us and the Fiery Bird Live Music Venue we run as well as the important work we do in Woking and Surrey. It was lovely to meet supporters of ours and meet other important, dedicated voluntary organisations. Also great to hear the High Sheriff had a great time visiting @FieryBirdLiveMusic for a recent gig!
Sometimes when you have your head down just getting on with the daily challenges inside, it is great when people outside of it give you the opportunity to stop and see that it does have meaning and impact for others as you wished it to.
